You are here:Calendars
Since 1984, MAHS has been producing an annual historical calendar, featuring some aspect of Manchester area history. The yearly calendar is our main fundraising vehicle. Themes have included schools, the Civil War, railroads, centennial farms, and area businesses. The Calendar Committee is in full swing the first five months of each year, and the calendar is usually unveiled at the Manchester Alumni Banquet in June. The calendar is produced locally, is sold by area merchants, and the proceeds help the Society in its mission to complete the local historical record.
People like you have helped make the publication of each year's calendar an eagerly anticipated event around the county and beyond. We thank you and all our many sponsors for making our past calendars so successful.
Do you have any photos or stories that might be included in a future calendar? Do you have suggestions for future calendar themes? If so, we're all ears (and eyes)! Please contact us. We are interested mainly in photos 50 years old or more, and especially those that feature people and events.
2010 Calendar – "Reminiscences"
Your involvement is helping to make our current 2010 calendar another success. If you haven't done so already, please consider buying one from a participating area merchant. Better yet, buy two—one for yourself, and one to give to someone special! Reminiscences continues our 2009 focus on the activities of past Manchester area folks, and features a cast of characters as multifarious as before: ice harvesters, blacksmiths, undertakers, car dealers, mail carriers, construction workers, delivery agents, underage soldiers, sleigh riders, factory workers, cymbalists and fisherboys. Each one has a tale to tell.
2011 Calendar – "Footprints on the sands of time"
Yes, it's time to rummage through those old trunks and dust off those old photo albums again! The theme for the 2011 MAHS Historical Calendar is "footprints on the sands of time," and we will feature people, families, businesses, groups and professions that have made a positive difference in the lives of Manchester area residents 50 years ago and beyond. If you have historical photos, artifacts or information relating to this theme, please contact us! Help us make this calendar another memorable one.
